tween appointees hereunder as to the division of the
compensation to which they or either may be entitled,
the decision and award of the Governor with reference
thereto shall be final.
"Sec. 3. And be it enacted that when the Government
of the United States has paid any sum or sums into the
Treasury of this State, in settlement or on account of
the claim or claims hereinbefore mentioned, the Comp-
troller upon the order of the Governor shall draw his
warrant upon the Treasurer in favor of the agent or
agents aforesaid,' or their successors, or the representa-
tive of either of them for such sum or snms, as the Gov-
ernor may direct, not exceeding in the aggregate the
rate hereinhefore fixed."
Sec. 4. And be it enacted that this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

Mr. Crothers, from Committee on Finance, reported
favorably,
Sena.te bill entitled "An Act to refund to George W.
Hatchenson, of Kent county, in the State of Maryland,
the sum of $40.94, for money paid by him in error for
State taxes for twenty years from tue year 1877 to the
year 1896, inclusive, on private securities, which secur-
ities were improperly assessed, being paid before Janu-
ary 1st, 1877."
Which was read the second time and ordered to be en
grossed for a third reading.
Also, favorably,
House bill entitled "An Act to appropriate the sum of
$1573.75, out of the public school fund, to reimburse
Garrett county for an instalment of the State School tax
withheld from said county, in the year 1899, and also to
authorize and direct the Comptroller to apportion to said
dounty the installment known as the ‘March Instalment,'
of the Slate School tax for the year 1900, said install-
ment being the apportionment made to said Garrett
county on the 15th day of March, in each year.'"
