and pay the interest thereon."

A bill entitled "An Act to repeal and re-enact with
amendments, section 4, of chapter 102, of time Acts of
1896, entitled an Act to provide for the formation of
Farmers' Institutes in the State of Maryland, and to ap-
propriate a sum of money therefor."
Which was read the first time and referred to the Com-
mit tee on Finance.
Also,
A bill entitled "An Act to repeal and re-enact with
amendments, sections 2 and 3, of chapter 322, of the Acts
of the General Assembly of Maryland of 1898, entitled
an Act to amend the charter and extend the powers of
the Frederick Electric Light and Power Company of
Frederick city, a corporation formed nuder Article 23 of
Code of Public General Laws of Maryland, entitled ‘Cor-
porations,' and recorded in one of the records of corpo-
rations of Frederick county, Liber No. 2, folios 265 and
266."
Which was read the first time and referred to the Com-
mittee on Corporations.

REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES.
Mr. Betts, from Committee on Agriculture, reported
favorably,
House Joint Resolution of time General Assembly of
Maryland, requesting our Representatives in Congress to
vote for the passage of the Grout and Richardson bills
now before Congress."
Which was read the second time.
Mr. Crothers, from Committee on Finance, reported
favorably.
