Mr. Crothers, from Committee on Finance, reported
favorably, with proposed amendments,
Senate bill entitled "An Act to authorize and empower
the Mayor and City Council of Laurel to borrow money
on the credit of said town, for the purpose of construct-
ing water works for said town, do necessary drainage,
and purchase, construct or erect an electric lighting and
power plant, to issue bonds for the payment of the same
aud to levy taxes on assessable property of said town,
to redeem the said bonds and pay the interest thereon."
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
In line 28, of original bill, after the word "all” Insert
"county and municipal."
Which proposed amendment was adopted,
The bill was read the second time and ordered to be
engrossed for a third reading.
Also, with recommendation that said bill be referred
to the Committee on Judicial Proceedings.
Senate bill entitle4 "An Act to repeal *ections 196 to
209, Inclusive, of Article 1, of the Public Local Laws of
Maryland, entitled ‘Allegany County,' sub-title ‘Mine
Inspector,' and also to repeal sections 150 to 164, inclu-
sive, of Article 12, of the Public Local Laws of Mary-
land, entitled ‘Garrett County; sub-title ‘Manufacturers
and Mines,' for the appointment of mine inspector for
Ailegany and Garrett counties, and regulation of coal
mines in said counties, and to re-enact them with amend-
mencs, and to add certain new sections to said respective
Articles to follow in the first mentioned Article, section
209, to be designated as ‘Sections 209 A, 209 B, 209 C
and 209 D,' and to follow in the second mentioned Arti-
cle, ‘Section 16 H,' to be designated as ‘Sections 164 A,
164 B and 164 C."
On motion of Mr. Dick,
Said bill was referred to Senators Dick, Putsel and
Robrback.
Mr. Williams, of Harford, from Committee on Coñsti-
tutlonal Amendments, reported favorably,
Senate bill No. 42, entitled "An Act to amend Article
15 of the Declaration of Rights of the Constitution of
this State."
