1900.] OF THE SENATE. 383 PETITIONS, MEMORIALS AND OTHER PAPERS. The President presented a memorial of the Congrega- tion of 1st Methodist Episcopal Church, Baltimore, in re- gard to Sunday laws. Also, A protest of Wye Methodist Protestant Church against any change in the present Sunday law. Also, A request of the Christian Association of Baltimore to make no change in the present Sunday law. Aso, A petition from Solomon German and 50 others against any change in the present Sunday law. Also, A petition from members of Caroline Street Methodist Church against any change in the present Sunday law. Also, A petition from Jno. W. R. Sumwalt and 16 others against any change in the present Sunday law. Which were severally read and referred to the Com- mittee on Judicial Proceedings. Also the following COMMUNICATION: BALTiMORE, February 20th, 1900. Hon. John Hubner, President of the Senate of the State of Maryland DEAR SIR—We hereby petition your Honorable Body, in connection with the House of Delegates, to grant a joint hearing to the associations named below, in oppo- sition to the Sanford bill, which has for its object the change of the laws for the observance of Sunday, and ask that you permit us the use of the State House for the purpose at half past ten Tuesday morning next, Feb- ruary 27th.
