the last word of said line, that is to say, the word "bublic,"
and insert in lieu thereof the word "public."
In line 2 of section 4 of original bill, after the word
"holders," insert the following, "or any other persons
affected by the change or work hereby authorized to be
done."

• Amend by adding at the end of section 4, after the
word "company," the following
"And if either the said railroad company or said prop-
erty owners aforesaid shall he dissatisfied with the award
of said County Commissioners in the premises, it or they
or any of them may file its or theirs or his or her petition
against the said County Commissioners in the Circuit Court
of Baltimore county,setting forth the claim of the petition-
er or petitioners and the manner in which said claim has
been dealt with by the said County Commissioners, and
praying that the said Court, with the aid of a jury, may
proceed to hear and determine the damages sustained by
said petitioner or petitioners in the matter of the altera-
tion of the grade of said road and other matters hereinbe-
fore provided for. Said cause shall be heard at the term
as of which said petition is filed, or at the next succeed-
ing term; and said Court shall enter its judgment for the
plaintiff or plaintiffs or defendants, according to the ver-
dict of the jury.
Which proposed amendments were severally adopted.

And the bill was read the second time.


The President distributed the following message from
the House of Delegates:
House Joint Resolution of the General Assembly of
Maryland, requesting our Representatives in Congress
to vote for the passage of the Grout and Richardson
bills now before Congress.
Endorsed; "Read the second time and passed by yeas
and nays."
Which was read the first time and referred to the Com-
mittee on Agruculture.
