SECOND ORDER OF THE DAY.
The hour of 1.40 P. M. having arrived,
The Senate considered the Second Order of the Day,
being
Senate bill No. 3, entitled "An Act to repeal and re-
enact with amendments sections 112 and 112 A, 112 B
and 113, of Article 2, of the Code of Public Local Laws,
title ‘Anne Arundel County,' sub-title ‘County Commis-
sioners,' so as to provide for the increase of the number
of County Commissioners of Anne Arundel county from
three to seven, and for the appointment by the Governor
of the four County Commissionsrs to fill the vacancy
caused by this Act, to serve until the next general elec-
tion, and providing for the termination of the terms of
the County Commissioner elected at the general electioll
of 1897, and the County Commissioner elected at the
general election of 1899.
On motion of Mr. Williams, of Anne Arundel,
Said bill was recommitted to the Select Committee.
REPORTS OF SELECT COMMITTEES.
Mr. Peter, from Select Committee, reported favorably,
with proposed amendments,
Senate bill entitled "An Act to authorize and empower
the Mayor and City Council of Laurel to borrow money on
the credit of said town, for the purpose of constructing
water works for said town, do necessary drainage, and
purchase, construct or erect an electric lighting and
power plant, to issue bonds for the payment of the same
and to levy taxes on the assessable property of said town,
to redeem the said bonds and pay the interest thereon."
AMENDMENTS PROPOSED.
In section 2, line 5, insert between the words "Philip
P. Caste]" and "citizen," the name of "John W. Whiteside,"
On page 3, line 21, strike out the word "3” and insert
the word "4."
On page 3, line 23. insert between "and” and "shall”
"one for three years."
Which proposed amendments were severally adopted.
