Mr. Putzel submitted the resolutions of the Republi-
can Club of the 18th ward of Baltimore city, commending
the course of the Republican Senators in their efforts to
obtain genuine minority representation.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on
Judicial Proceedings.

Mr. Rohrback presented a petition from Wm. S. Baker
and 49 other citizens of Frederick county, asking for the
passage of a general local option law for the State of
Maryland, such law not to be applicable to parts of the
State where the sale of liquor is now prohibited by law.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on
Temperance.

Mr. Bryan presented a petition from Robert D. Silver-
man and 218 others for a General Local Option Law.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on
Temperance.


ORDERS.
On motion of Mr. Putzel, it was

Ordered, That the use of the Senate Chamber he ten-
dered to such persons as may desire to be heard upon the
bill providing for an appropriation for the Johns Hop-
kins University, on Wednesday, February 21, from 4 P.
M. until the commencement of the night session of the
Senate.

Which was adopted.

On motion of Mr. Wilkinson,

Whereas, Senator Wilkinson voted for Senate bill en-
titled "An Act to repeal section 43 and section 44 and
section 45, of Article 18, of the Code of Public Local
Laws, entitled ‘Queen Anne's County,' sub-title ‘Centre-
ville,' and to re-enact the same with amendents; and

Whereas, he has since found that said bill contains a
provision requiring a property qualification to enable a
person to vote at municipal elections in said town of Cen-
treville, which provision is in his judgment repugnant to
his ideas of the rights of citizens of this State; and
