226 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Feb. 6 By Mr. Williams, of Anne Arundel, A bill entitled "An Act providing for the erection and operation of a Rock Crushing Plant by and under the supervision of the Board of Directors, and the officers of the Maryland House of Correction, and providing for the sale of the crushed stone product to the counties and other municipalities of the State." Which was read the first time and referred to the Committee on Finance. REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES. Mr. Brewington from Committee on Education, repor- ted favorably, with proposed amendments, Senate bill No. 24, entitled "An Act to repeal section 61, of Article 77, of the Code Qf Public General Laws of the State of Maryland, title ‘Public Education,' as re- enacted by chapter. 135, of the Acts of Assembly of the State of Maryland, at the session of 1896, andto re-enact said section so as to read as follows: AMENDMENT PROPOSED. Inseit after the word "ink," the following words: "Maps, charts, globes, writing pads and spelling blanks." Which proposed amendment was adopted, and The bill was read the second time, and ordered to be engrossed for a third reading. Mr. Brewington, from the Committee on Education, reported favorably, with proposed amendment, Senate bill No. 84, entitled "An Act to authorize grad- uates of St. John's College, at Annapolis, and of Western Maryland College, at Westminster, to teach in any of the public schools of the State established under the author- ity of the Public School Law of Maryland." AMENDMENT PROPOSED. Insert after the word "Westminster," time wor is " the Maryland Agricultural College, at College Park, and the Woman's College, at Frederick, Maryland.". Which proposed amendment was adopted. |
