AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
Strike out all of "Code section 6, in section 1," and in-
sert in lieu thereof, the following:
"The Governor, by and with the advice and consent of
the Senate, shall as soon after the passage of this Act as
practicable, and every ten years thereofter, appoint in
each of the counties of this State, three discreet persons
who are conspicious for their probity and intelligence
and recognized friends of public education, not more
than two of whom shall be members of the same political
party as the Governor, to be known as a County Board
of Education, and who shall severally hold office for ten
years from the date of appointment, and it shall be the
duty of the members of said County Boards of Educa-
tion to meet in their respective counties immediately
after their appointment, and every four years thefeafter,
and appoint the Board of County School Commissioners of
their several counties to be composed of three persons, not
more than a majority of whom shall be of the same political
party of the majority of said County Board of Education
to serve for four years from the first day of January,
next, succeeding their appointment; provided, that in
counties having more than one hundred schools, five
