1900.] OF THE SENATE. 161 Resolved, That the present session of Maryland State Legislature should make provision for the teaching of nature studies in the public schools of the State. E. L. HARTSHORNE, Secretary. Which was read, and referred to the Committee on Education. ORDERS. On motion of Mr. Williams, of Anne Arundel, it was Ordered, That the President be and he hereby is authorized to appoint George Linthicum as keeper of the furnace under the annex to the State House, at $5 per day, until the end of the present legislative session, and said per diem shall date from January 11th, 1900, the said George Linthicum having acted as said keeper of said furnaces during this time. Which was read, and referred to the Committee on Finance. INTRODUCTION OF BILLS By Mr. Williams, of Anne Arundel, A bill entitled "An Act to appropriate twenty-five hundred dollars, to be expended for the repairing, re- fitting a.nd furnishing of the Court of Appeals rooms and offices." Which was read the first time, and referred to the Committee on Finance. Also, A bill entitled "An Act to provide for the acquisition of a lot of land and the erection thereon by the State of Maryland, of a building in the city of Annapolis, in which shall be located the court-room, consultation and other rooms of the Court of Appeals, the State Libary or por- tion thereof; the Comptroller's office, the Land Commis- sioner's office, the Tax Commissioner's office, the Treas- urer's office; and for such other purposes as may be deemed proper, and to appropriate a sum of money there- for, and to provide for the removal of the building upon State House hill, known as the ‘Comptroller's Office.'" 11 |
