tors Williams, of Anne Arundel, Bouic and Moses.
By Mr. Ravenscroft,
A bill entitled "An Act to repeal chapter 341, of the
Acts of 1898, entitled ‘An Act to authorize the Governor
to appoint an additional Justice of the Peace for the
Ninth Election District, and also an additional Justice of
the Peace for the Fourteenth Election District of Garrett
County,' and re-enact the same with amendments."
Which was read the first time, and referred to the
Committee on Judicial Proeeedings.


JOINT RESOLUTION.
Mr. Bryan offered the following Joint Resolution:
Whereas, A bill has been offered in the Senate, and a
like bill in the House, looking to the reduction in the
price of gas in Baltimore city; and
Whereas, It is deemed advisable that the respective
committees to which said bill has been referred, as well
as the Senate and House, shall have full and accurate in-
formation, so as to enable action with intelligence and
justice to all; therefore be it
Resolved, That the President of the Senate and the
Speaker of the House, jointly, shall name and appoint a
commission, to consist of five decent persons residing in
Baltimore city, which commission shall have the power
to discharge the duties hereinafter mentioned, and
shall, by a full and thorough investigation, ascertain the
cost of the present property, plant and appliances now
used in the supply of gas to the city of Baltimore, ac-
quiring right of way and easements, the amount expend-
ed in constructing the same, and the equipment of the
works now owned by the Consolidated Gas Company, as
well as other expenditures and investments, the cost of
production and delivery of gas at the burners.
They shall procure all such other information as, in
their judgment, shall be necessary and proper to assist
in determining what ought to be a fair and sufficient
rate for said company to charge per 1,000 cubic feet
for the supply of gas, for the purposes of discharging the
duties hereby imposed on them, the commissioners here-
