House bill entitled "An Act to establish a commission
of State Aid and Charities. "
AMENDMENTS PROPOSED,
Amend section 1, by adding after the word "session"
in line 11, the words "the first of said appointment j under
this Act, shall be made during the month of April in the
year 1900, subject to confirmation by the Senate at the
next meeting of the General Assembly. "
Amend section 2, by striking out the word "or" in the
4th line and adding after the words "or in any other
State, County municipal or incorporated. "
And in line 6, after the word "the" and before the word
'regular' insert the word "next. "
4nd in line 10, after the word "State" add the words,
"to aid said organization or institution. "
Amend section 3 by adding after the word "and" in
line 4 the words "if so. "
Amend section 4 by adding after the word "Assembly"
in line 4 the words "on all such institutions and organi-
zations inspected or investigated as prescribed in section
three of this Act, " and after the word extent in line 16,
add the wards "as well as those to which the aid of the
State should not be extended with the reasons therefor,
together with all other matters relating to the conduct
and management thereof as may be deemed interesting
and useful. "
Amend by adding after section 4 the following section,
to be section 5, as follows:
"Section 5. Be it enacted. That no member of the said
board, or any officer thereof, shall be directly or indi-
rectly interested in any contract for building, repairing
or furnishing any supplies to any institution or organi-
zation of which the said board shall consider the applica-
tion for State aid or be authorized by this Act to visit
and inspect. "
Amend by changing the number of section "5" to num-
ber "6. "
And in line 3 of the then section 6. to strike out "the, ''
after the word "than, " the words "one thousand, " and
substitute therefor the words "twelve hundred. "
And in line 6 of the then section 6. after the word
"board, " to add the words "and secretary thereof. "
