Mr. Linthicum presented a petition and memorial of
John R. Patterson, claiming to be elected a delegate to
this House from Dorchester county in the place of Jos.
B. Andrews.

Which was read, and referred to Committees on Elec-
tions, to be hereafter appointed.

Mr. Wolfe gave notice that the petition and memorial
of Geo. W. Darr, would be presented, claiming to be
elected a delegate to this House from Prince George's
county, in place of Geo. C. Merrick.

Which was read, and referred to Committee on Elec-
tions, to be hereafter appointed.

The members-elect of said counties, as read, came for-
ward and qualified as members of the House.

Mr. Brown, of Frederick county, submitted the follow-
ing order.

Ordered, That Dr. Benj. L. Smith, of Dorchester
county, be Chief Clerk of the House of Delegates,
Frederick Sasscer, of Prince George's county, the Journal
Clerk, Walter Townsend, of Baltimore county, the Read-
ing Clerk, Jos. H. Gale, of Baltimore city, Chief En-
grossing Clerk, Edward F. Meehan, of Baltimore city,
Sargeant-at-Arms.

Mr. Walbach, of Charles county, submitted the follow-
ing amendment:

AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

Amend by striking out the name of Benj. L. Smith, of
Dorchester county, and inserting Zebedee Householder,
of Balto, county, for Chief Clerk.

By striking out the name of Walter E,. Townsend, of
Balto, county, and inserting Albert F. Ohr, of Allegany
county, for Reading Clerk.

By striking out the name of Frederick Sasscer, of
Prince George's county, and inserting Reno S. Harp, of
Frederick county, for Journal Clerk.

By striking out Joseph H. Gale, of Balto, city, and
inserting Levi A. Thompson, of Balto, city, for Chief
Engrossing Clerk.

By striking out Edward F. Meehan, Balto, city, and
inserting Geo. B. Flynn, of Balto, city, for Sergeant-at-
Arms.

Amendment rejected.
