AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

Amend by substituting for the bill the following bill:

A bill entitled "An Act to place a proper inscription on
the Taney Monument in the Stale House grounds, and
to appropriate a sum of money therefor. "

Whereas, The monument to Roger B. Taney in the
State House grounds at Annapolis, is entirely devoid of
any inscription.

Suction 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, that the sum of $100. or so much thereof as may be
necessary, be, arid the same is hereby appropriated to
place upon the said monument the following inscription:
'Roger B. Taney, of Maryland, Chief Justice, ' the said
inscription to be in letters of bronze; and the Governor
of Maryland is hereby authorized and directed to have
the said inscription so placed upon the said monument,
and the Comptroller of the State is hereby authorized to
draw his warrant on the Treasurer for an amount suffi-
cient to pay the cost of said inscription; provided, the
said cost does not exceed the appropriation herein made,
on a certificate from the Governor that the work has been
properly done. "

The bill, as amended, was read a second time and
ordered to be engrossed for a third reading.

House bill entitled "An Act to provide for the creation
of a Franchise Commission of Baltimore city, said pro-
visions to be a part of Article 4. Public Local Laws, sub-
title 'Miscellaneous Local Laws, ' and to be numbered sec-
tions 907, 908. 909, 910, 911, 912, 913, 914, 915, 916, 917,
918, 919, 920, 921, 922 and 923, with amendments. "
AMENDMENTS PROPOSED.

First Amendment. Amend the title by inserting on
line 6, after the "figures 923, " the words "to follow imme-
diately after section 906. "

Second Amendment. Amend section 1, line 6, by in-
serting after the "figures 923, " the words "to follow im-
mediately after section 906. "

Third Amendment. Strike out "section 907" and insert
in lieu thereof, the following:

907. "The President of the Second Branch of the City
