AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

Strike out the word "residents, " in line 9, and substi-
tute "registered voters. "

Mr. Duncan submitted the following proposed amend-
ment:

AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

1. Insert after the word "years" on the second page
of the bill, line 16, the following words: "And their
term of office shall commence on the first Monday of May
next ensuing their appointment. "

2. Insert after the word "State, " on the 57th line of
the 3rd page of the bill the following words:

"Provided that the present Board of Police Commis-
sioners shall continue in office until the first Monday of
May, 1900, with the right of removal and to fill vacan-
cies on the part of the Governor, as provided by law. "

All of which were severally read and adopted.

Whole, reported the said bill with proposed amendments
with recommendation that they be adopted and bill
passed.
