Commissioner (the appointment first made under this
Act being subject to confirmation by the Senate at its
next session), subject to removal for cause; and in case
of death, resignation or removal, the Governor shall ap-
point his successor. He shall be charged with the en-
forcement of all laws against fraud, adulteration in the
manufacture and sale of dairy and food products now in
force, or hereafter to be enacted, and may assist the sev-
eral State's Attorneys of the counties and the city of
Baltimore in the trials of violators of said laws. He
shall receive a salary of fifteen hundred dollars per
annum, to be paid out of the funds made available by this
Act, also the traveling and incidental expenses incurred
in the discharge of his duties, same to be paid monthly.
"Sec. 52. That before entering upon the duties of State
Dairy and Food Commissioner, the person appointed to
fill said office shall file with the State Comptroller a good
and sufficient bond, in the sum of five thousand dollars,
conditioned upon the faithful discharge of his duties.
"Sec. 53. That the said commissioner may work in
unison with the State Live Stocks Sanitary Board, and
the State and City Board of Health, and with the. Inspec-
tors of Milk in the enforcement of all laws relating to the
dairy and food products or imitations thereof now en-
force or hereafter to be enacted, and on the prosecution
of violators of said laws; but nothing in this Act shall be
construed as authorizing him to restrict, limit or interfere
with the said officers in the discharge of their respective
duties.
"Sec. 54. That the sum of five thousand dollars annually
is hereby appropriated to carry out the provisions of this
Act, but the entire expense of this office shall not exceed
In any one year the amount specifically appropriated for
this purpose. The said commissioner shall make annual
reports to the Governor, not later than the tenth day of
January of each year, of his work and proceedings, and
bi-ennially the said commissioner shall transmit these re-
ports to the Legislature. The sum appropriated by this
Act shall be paid by the Treasurer of the State, to the
said commissioner upon the warrant of the Comptroller.
"Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That all laws or
parts of laws in conflict with the provisions of this Act,
be and the same are hereby repealed.
