ORDER OF THE DAY.
The hour of 1 P. M. having arrived,
The House considered the Order of the Day, being

House bill entitled "An Act to regulate the Practice of
Pharmacy in the State of Maryland. "

AMENDMENTS PROPOSED,

Strike out "Section 1, " as offered, and insert the follow-
ing:

"Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That persons on or after the first day of July
following the passage of this Act, shall open, conduct or
keep a pharmacy in this State, either as principal or
agent, unless such persons shall have obtained a pharma-
cists' license as hereinafter provided, and no pharmacy
shall, at any time, be left in charge of any person who is
not a licensed pharmacist, a licensed acting pharmacist or
a licensed assistant pharmacist; it shall, however, be law-
ful for physicians to compound and dispense their own
prescriptions, but unlawful for any person, dealer or
firm, not a licensed pharmacist, a licensed acting pharma-
cist or licensed assistant pharmacist to compound a phy-
sicians' prescription. "

Amend by inserting the following after the word "com-
pounded, " and before the word "and" in the 4th line:
"That any person over the age of seventeen who, at the
passage of this Act, is employed as clerk or assistant in a
pharmacy in this State and has been actively engaged
for two consecutive years in a pharmacy where physi-
cians' prescriptions are daily compounded, that any per-
son under the age of sixteen who, at the passage of this
Act, is employed as a clerk or assistant in a pharmacy in
this State, and has been actively engaged for three con-
secutive years in a pharmacy where physicians' prescrip-
tions are daily compounded. "

Add "Sec. 17. And be it further enacted, That this Act
shall take effect from the date of its passage.

Mr. Collins proposed the following amendments:
In section 15, after the word "offense, " insert "provided
that none of the provisions of this Act shall apply to
Talbot, Dorchester, Charles, St. Mary's, Harford, Queen
