And also the following message: YOUR message of the 11th instant highly merits, and has justly obtained, our most respectful attention, and our most serious consideration. And could we, consistently with our ideas of the impressive duty we owe to our constituents, we would willingly accede to your proposition of proceeding to the election of a senator to represent this state in the senate of the United States; but persuaded as we are, that the interest of the republic would be greatly advanced by a reference of this momentous subject to the consideration of the next general assembly, we are unwilling at this time to proceed to the election, the event of which will be obviously of such extensive and lasting importance. on yesterday. The proceedings of yesterday were read. Watts his bond, dated the sixth day of February, seventeen hundred and eighty-two, with Benjamin Talbot and Henry Oram his securities, and on which there is a balance of one hundred and twenty-eight pounds; and that the said Edward Watts, Benjamin Talbot and Henry Oram, securities for said Edward Watts, be and they are hereby released from a judgment obtained by the said state on said bond. Dorsey, Esquire, who Waters, or their order, or the order of either of them, the bond given to the state of Maryland for the purchase money for Lot No. 1 , being part of the Nanticoke Indian lands, purchased by said Richard Waters of the late intendant of the revenue, to be cancelled. By order, W. HARWOOD, clk. Which was read the first and second time by especial order and assented to. John Grahame, Esquire, has leave of absence till Monday the twenty-fourth instant. The clerk of the house of delegates delivers the following resolution: pounds current money of Maryland, with interest at the rate of six per cent. from the eighth day of September, 1786, till paid. The bill declaring a road or street leading from the Reister's-town turnpike road to intersect Howard-street a public highway, was read the second time and will pass with the proposed amendment.
