    Amendments proposed.  After the word "whereas" in the fourth line of the first page insert " under the 
existing rules and regulations for the conduct of surveyors."  Strike out from the word "escheat" in the fifth
line of the same page to the word "for" in the fourteenth line same page.  Strike out from the second word
"the" in the eleventh line of the second page to the end of the bill, and insert " whole tract of land, and improvements
thereon, and after examination of the said certificate, and payment to the treasurer of the western
or eastern shore, as the case may be, of two thirds of the valuation of the escheatable part of the land therein
expressed, a patent shall issue in due time to the said party in whose name the said certificate may be returned,
or his heirs or assigns, for the undivided portion of the land that may be liable to escheat as aforesaid."
    The bill to extend the powers of the trustees of the poor of Montgomery county, was read the second time
by especial order and will pass.
The senate adjourns till to-morrow morning 10 o'clock.

W    E    D    N    E    S    D    A    Y,    December 17, 1800.

    THE senate met.  Present the same members as on yesterday.  The proceedings of yesterday were read.
    The bill for the relief of John Jarvis, the bill relative to the jurisdiction of the court of appeals, the
bill to incorporate the trustees of the Baltimore and Harford academy, the supplement to the act for the promotion
of literature in this state, the message respecting the said bill, the additional supplement to the act, entitled, 
An act to regulate elections, the bill to levy on the assessable property of Anne-Aundel county a sum of money
for the purpose herein after mentioned, the message respecting the said bill, the bill for the direction of surveyors
in executing warrants of escheat in certain cases, the amendments thereto, and the bill to extend the powers of
the trustees of the poor of Montgomery county, were sent to the house of delegates by the clerk.
    William Hammond Dorsey, Esquire, from the committee appointed to consider and report on the bill, entitled,
An act to enable the mayor and city council of Baltimore to introduce water into the said city, reported the
same with amendments.
    The said bill was then read the second time and will pass with the proposed amendments.
    Amendments proposed. Strike out from the word "situated" in the ninth line of the sixth page to the end of 
the seventeenth line of same page, and insert " to issue warrants to the sheriffs of Prince-George's and
Frederick counties, commanding and directing them respectively to summon from each of their respective counties
a jury of fifteen freeholders, inhabitants of their respective counties."  After the word "news-papers" in
the first line of the eighth page insert " and from the pannel of jurors so returned and attending, it shall be lawful
for the persons, a condemnation of whose land may be desired, and for the mayor and city council, alternately
to strike off a juror, until the number of jurors be reduced to twelve, the person, a condemnation of whose land
is claimed, beginning to strike off as aforesaid; and in case either party shall refuse or neglect to strike off the
names of jurors, then it shall be lawful for the sheriff, or his deputy, who shall attend as hereafter directed, to
strike off jurors for the party so refusing, until the number of jurors remaining be reduced to twelve as aforesaid."
Strike out the words " said jury" in the second line of same page and insert " twelve jurors so remaining."
Strike out the words " or annual rent" in the third line of same page.  Strike out the words " or annual
rent" in the seventh and eighth lines of same page.  Strike out from the word "required" in the first line of the
ninth page to the word "to" in the fourth line of same page.  After the word "by" in the eleventh line of same
page insert "seven."  After the words "Gwinn's Falls" in the third line of the twelfth page insert " Gwinn's
Run."  Strike out from the word "use" in the sixteenth line of the same page to the word "the" in the sixth
line of the thirteenth page.  Strike out from the word "operation" in the fifth line of the fourteenth page to
the end of the section.  Strike out the words " one dollar for their attendance" in the sixth and seventh lines of
the fifteenth page and insert " four dollars per diem for their attendance, and also the amount of two days
attendance for itinerant charges."  Strike out the word "ten" in the thirteenth line of same page and insert
"fifty."  Strike out the word "corporation" in the seventeenth line of same page and insert "council."  At the
end of the bill add, " And be it enacted, that the mayor and city council be authorised to arbitrate, in such
manner as they may think proper, the damages to be paid by them to any person or persons by reason of the
taking and introducing water into the city of Baltimore, and that in such case the award of the arbitrators shall
be deemed as good and valid, and to all intents and purposes as available, as the inquisition of a jury as above
directed, and recorded in the same manner. And be it enacted, That after the first day of January, eighteen
hundred and three, all the provisions in this act for compelling the condemnation of the land or other thing of
any individual, contrary to the will and consent of such individual, shall cease."
    The bill to open a road from the Pennsylvania line through Emmittsburgh and Creager's-town, to intersect the
main road from Lancaster to the city of Washington at or near Frederick-town, in Frederick county, was read 
the second time by especial order and will pass.
    The bill to rebuild the poor-house in Anne-Arundel county was read the second time and will pass with the
proposed amendments.
    Amendments proposed.  Strike out from the word "that" in the second line of the second page to the word
"to" in the fourth line of the same page, and insert " the trustees of the poor of Anne-Arundel county shall
