WE have, during the present session, imposed a very arduous and disagreeable duty upon the chancellor, in relation to insolvent applicants. We are impressed with an opinion, that for those services, distinct from the general duties of this office, compensation ought to be made. Not possessing constitutional power to originate any law appropriating money in the treasury, we beg leave to call your attention to this subject, and hope there will be an union of sentiment upon it. By order, W. S. GREEN, clk. |
