The clerk of the house of delegates delivers a bill,
entitled, An act to alter such parts of the constitution and
THE claim of John B. Onion, as executor of Beriah Maybury, on the state of Maryland, appearing to us well founded, we have presumed to request the reconsideration of the senate on the resolution passed this house in his favour. By order, W. HARWOOD, clk. Which was read. The president communicates to the senate a memorial from William Alexander, of the city of Annapolis, praying to be heard by counsel at the bar of the senate against the resolution in favour of Rachel Shipley; which was read, and thereupon, on motion, ORDERED, That the parties in the said case concerned be heard by counsel on Saturday, the sixth instant, and that the clerk issue summonses for witnesses, upon application of either of the said parties, the expences whereof shall be defrayed by the party applying for the same. The resolution respecting a loan of money from the bank of Baltimore, was read the second time and assented to. The resolution in favour of Thomas Renshaw, was read the second time and assented to. The bill to open a road from Severn ferry, in Anne-Arundel county, to Patapsco lower ferry, was read the second time and will pass with the proposed amendments. Amendments proposed. Strike out the words " any constable" in the tenth line of the second page, and insert " the sheriff." After the word "same" in the seventh line of the third page insert " taking into consideration all conveniencies and inconveniencies, advantages and disadvantages, arising from opening the said road." On motion, ORDERED, That the bill for the relief of Benoni Hamilton Wade, of Prince-George's county, and the bill for the relief of James Alexander Magruder, of Prince-George's county, and insolvent debtor, have a second reading on Monday next. The bill to correct a mistake in the beginning of lot number three thousand nine hundred and eighty-three of the lands lying westward of Fort Cumberland, was read the second time and will pass. Upon a second reading of the message respecting the resolution in favour of John B. Onion, RESOLVED, That the senate will reconsider the said resolution; and, on motion, ORDERED, That summonses be issued for Thomas Lansdale and Richard Foggett, to give evidence for John B. Onion against the state, at the expence of the said John B. Onion, returnable on Tuesday next. |
