    The bill prescribing the form of the bond to be hereafter given by the clerks of the several counties of this
state, was read the second time, passed, and sent to the senate by the clerk.
    A petition from Richard T. Cheseldine, of Montgomery county, praying an act of insolvency, was preferred,
read, and referred to the committee appointed on the petition of Chamberlaine and Magruder.
    The bill for the relief of James Colquhoun, was read the second time, passed, and sent to the senate by the
clerk.
    The bill to authorise Benjamin Ray, junior, to collect the balances due him as sheriff and collector of Montgomery
county, was read the second time, passed, and sent to the senate by the clerk.
    The bill, entitled, A supplementary act to lay out and establish a road from the city of Annapolis to
the city of Washington, and to repeal the act therein mentioned, was read the second time by especial order,
passed, and sent to the senate by the clerk.
    The amendment to the bill for the relief of John Charles Francois Chirac, was read the second time, and the
question put, That the house agree thereto?  The yeas and nays being required, appeared as follow:

    The bill to empower the judges of the court of appeals to reinstate the cause of Job Garretson against Richard
Cole, was read the second time, passed, and sent to the senate by the clerk.
    Mr. Miller, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act for the relief of Hugh McCoy,
Samuel Patterson Wallace and George Lashey, of Cæcil county; which was read and referred to the consideration
of the next general assembly.
    Mr. T. Davis, from the committee, delivers to the speaker the following report:
    THE committee to whom was referred the petition of Richard T. Cheseldine, of Montgomery county, report,
that they have taken the same into their consideration, and are of opinion that the prayer thereof ought
to be granted, and recommend to the house the propriety of extending the several provisions of the act passed at
the present session, entitled, An act for the relief of sundry insolvent debtors, to the said Richard T. Cheseldine.

Which was read the first and second time and concurred with.
    A petition from Robert Long, of the city of Baltimore, praying compensation for the support of negro Daniel,
was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Smith, of Baltimore, Mr. Dorsey and Mr. Love, to consider and
report thereon.
    On motion, leave given to bring in a bill, entitled, An additional supplement to the act, entitled, An act for
the establishment and regulation of the levy courts in the several counties of this state.  ORDERED, That Mr.
Nelson, Mr. Kemp and Mr. Dorsey, be a committee to prepare and bring in the same.
    Mr. T. Davis, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, A supplement to an act, entitled,
An act for the relief of sundry insolvent debtors; which was read the first and second time by especial order
and passed.
    On motion, ORDERED, That the committee on expiring laws have leave to bring in a bill to continue the several
laws mentioned in their report.
    The clerk of the senate delivers a bill, entitled, An act relative to the jurisdiction of the court of appeals,
endorsed; " By the senate, December 13, 1800:  Read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.
                                                            " By order,                                                W. S.  GREEN, clk.
" By the senate, December 16, 1800: Read the second time and will pass.
                                                            " By order,                                                W. S.  GREEN, clk."
    Which was read the first and second time by especial order and passed.
The supplement to the act for the promotion of literature in this state, and the following message:
BY the SENATE, December 16, 1800.
        GENTLEMEN,
    WE have declined to reconsider the bill, entitled, A supplement to the act for the promotion of literature in
this state, as no reason has been offered us for changing any part of the trustees in the original bill.  We send
you a bill to incorporate the said trustees, with power to fill up vacancies, and likewise to divide the donation
