BY the SENATE, December 9, 1800.
GENTLEMEN,
WE have rejected the resolution respecting the laws
compiled by William Kilty. We deem the compensation
to him, and the distribution of the laws, to be very different subjects,
entirely unconnected with each other, and
would wish distinct resolves to be sent to us upon them; as they now appear
before the senate, it is out of our
power to propose any amendment whatever to the first part of the resolution.
By order,
W. S. GREEN, clk.
BY the SENATE, December 9, 1800.
GENTLEMEN,
WE accede to your amendment, and are ready to proceed
immediately to the election of a senator to represent
this state in the senate of the United States. We have proposed no
person in addition to those mentioned
by your house. We have appointed James Hollyday and Philip Thomas,
Esquires, to join in the examination of
the ballots.
By order,
W. S. GREEN, clk.
Which were read.
