Som^rsett County Ss The Jurors for the R^tt: hono^ble: the Lord prop^ry: bring Sworne upon the holly Evangelist
At a County Court held the second Tuesday in June last past doe present and find that Catherin
Tully Woman Serv^t: to Walter Lane of this County hath most Wickedly & Shamefully comitted
fornicaon & borne a bastard Child to the greate dishono^r: of God Almighty Scandall & evill -
Example of his Lordpps good people & in contempt of his Lopps good Laws & institucons of
This province wherefore his Lordpps Attourney craves judgement may ber entered against the said
Offender as in Law is provided in that Case &^a: James Sangster Cle. ind^ty
Whereupon the said Catherin Tully appeares & ownes her fact & saies that Bryan Kelly is
the father of her child upon which it was Ordered that the said Catherin Tully have well
Laid on her bare back five & Twenty Stripes
Walter Lane ingadged himself in open Court in the penalty of fifty shillings Sterl. for the
apeareance of the afores^d: Catherin Tully the next County Court to be held the second Tuesday
In September next & in the interim to be of the good behaviour &^a: - -
The Same Day Com^rs: as aforesaid
The Lord prop^ry

Wm Knock as being father to the Child of Catherin Chestny which he denide & for his tryall
puts himselfe on the Country whereupon it was ordered that a Jury be impannelled w^ch: was
accordingly don by the sheriff viz^t: James Weatherly Walter Reed ffrancis Joyce Robert
Crouch Thomas Tyre John Richins Phillip Ascue John Parsons Nathaniell Vezey John Hambly
Marmaduck Mister Richard Webb who being impannelled & Sworne to Say the truth of the
Matter doe Say & find that the said William Knock is not guilty &^a - - -
The same day Com^rs: as aforesaid
Daniell Selby sends his Slave William ffisher Negro to be judged before the Justices
of this Court after haveing taken a full view of him they do adjudge him to be eight years
old & under nine years //

The peticon of Catherin Chestny read in Court Ordered that She departe the County afterw^ch:
That her bondsman to be cleere & his bond delivered up to him &^a: - - - - - - -
