personall appearance last March Court according to certain forms of an act of Assembly
in that case made & provided whereupon the aforesd: Graves Barrett constable as aforesd: make
his prsonall appearance and pleades Ignoramus & puts himselfe upon the mercy of the Court
Now at this day to witt the 13th: day of June as aforesaid it was then & there ordered by the
Said Court that The aforesd:Graves Parrett constable as aforesd: be find according to Act of Assembly
for his Contempt as aforesd: but remitted in August Court following

That Margarett the wife of John holder hath Stolne & purloynd severall things vizt as Ribbon
nutmegs childcoat Bracelett &a:
These are therefore in the name of the Rt: honoble: the Ld: propry: to will & require you Margaret
holder forthwith to make your personall appearance before me or Some other of his Lopps
Justices for this County to answer the aforesd: Complaint fail not as you will answer the
Contrary At yr: perill Given under my hand at Wiccocomoco this 23th: day of Aprill 1688

The parties aforesd: haveing made their personall appearance before mr: Wm: Brereton as -
aforesd: who were by him the said mr: Brereton bound to appeare & make their prsonall appearance
agt: June Court following as hereafter appeares vizt:
Somerstt: County Ss By vertue of this warrant the parties appeared & hath putt themselves upon the
Tryall of the Court & for their appearance & to stand to the Judgment of the Court Peter -
George of Wiccocomoco hundrd: Negroe hath underdaken for Sarah Griggers in the sume of ffive
pounds sterl: to be Leavied upon his goods & Chattels to the use of the Lord propry: & his Successors
and Wm: holder hath under taken for Margarett holder in the like Sume of five pounds sterl-
To be Leavied upon his goods & Chattells to the use of the Lord propry: his heires & Successors as
Witness their hands & Seales this 23th: of Aprill 1688 his

Sarah Dri Griggers haveing declared of severall things that has been purloynd & Stolne -
from her by the aforesd: Margarett holder who denies & saies that he never had any of her
goods & for her Treyall puts herselfe upon God & the Country upn which is was ordered a Jury
to be Impannelled vizt: Jno: King Wm: Round Richard Ackworth Henry Myles John Smock Cornelius
Morris Leonard Jones Jno: Miller Jno: ffreeman Abraham Emett Thomas Morris & Robt: Cattlin
who to Say the truth according the circumstances of the Evidences of Peter George Mary
George Mary Johnson & Sarah Griggers Junr: who were alsoe Sworne to declare the truth according
to the best of their knowledge in the presence of the Court & the said Jury who being summoned
Impannelled & Sworne upon their Oaths do make returne of their verdit thus wee of y
Jury finding Evidences wholly disagreeing in their depositions & the Girdel wch: is the cheife
under age wee find Margarett holder not guilty of the things laid to her Charge wch: were
Accordingly Confirmed // Court adjournes for an hour
The same Day Comrs: as aforesd:
The peticon of Capta: Wm: Piper to the worshipfull Court That the late Wm: Elgate deced
tooke up goods of yor: peticoner to the vallue of Two hundred & Seaven pounds of porke
