indebted unto the plte the Just Sume of Two hundred pounds of tobacco which y plte pd:
to Anthony Bell and Twenty nine dayes as pr accot: here in Cort: produced the wch: dayes
he the Said Rowland in the time of his Servitude to the plte did run away as will in Cort:
more plainely appeare as pr accompt here in Cort: produced the wch: dayes but he the said
Rowland fraudulently intending the plte to deceive of y 200lb: of tobacco & y dayes
wch: he run away doth refuse to pay the Same according to act of assembly in Such Cases
made & provided & but doth denie the Same although often thereunto required by y
plte whereupon the plte Saith he is damnified and hath Damadge to the value of 2000lb:

run away in June ffolowing 11 dayes & brought home by
mr: John West run away in August 9 days & brought
home by Collo: Colebornes negro Emanuell run away 23 for
2 dayes & came with Wm: Planner
This following indenture read before the Cort: & Jury
This Indenture made the 12th: day of Janry: 1679 Betweene Rowland Shepherd of y one party
and John Webb of the other party Wittnesseth that the said Rowland Shepherd doth hereby
Covenant promise and grant to and with y said John Webb his executors from the day
of y Date hereof untill his first arivall in Maryland & after for and duering the tearme
of Seaven yeares to Serve in Such Service & imployment as he the Said John Webb or
his executors: Shall there imploy him according to the Custom of the Contry in y like kind
in Consideracon whereof the Said John Webb doth hereby Covenant & grant to an with
the Said Rowland Shepherd to pay for his passage and to finde & allowe him meat -
drink apparell and Lodging with other necessaryes during the said Terme and at
the end of the said terme to pay unto him Such things as the Custom of y Contry
doth in yt: Case provide In witnes whereof y parties above mentioned to these Indentures
have enterchangeably Set theire hands & Seales the day & year above written
Sealed & delivered in y Rowland Shepherd (Sealed)
