Som^r:set County Ss Edmund Beauchamp late of this County was attached to
answ^r: unto Richard Brittaine of the Same County in A plea of Debt &c
And whereupon the plte by Thomas Poole his Attorney Comes & Saith that he the
def^t: in the year of our Lord 1686 became indebted upon the Eleaventh day of June
the full & Just Sume of thirteene hundred & sixteene pounds of Tobacco as will in
Court more plainely appeare by a bill under the hand & Seale of the defend^t: bearing
date as aforesaid & here in Co^rt: produced the w^ch: Sume the defend^t: did faithfully promise
to pay unto the plte according the tenor of the aforesaid bill but he the Said Edmund
Little regarding his promise or bill but fraudulently intending the plte to deceive
doth denie & Still doth denie to pay the Summe aforesaid of 1316^lb: of tobacco although
often thereunto required by the plte whereupon the plte Saith he is Damnified & hath
Damadge to the vallue of 2500^lb: of tobacco & thereupon brings this Sute /
