Whereas mr:James Round Peticioned this Cort That the Road being Soe near his house yt he Cannot
make any Conveniency for y management of husbandry wch he intends to manage as alsoe
that he intends to Sett up a water mill which he Supposeth might make the Road Where now it is
unpassable therefore humbly Craves order That this worpll Court will grannt him Leave to turne
the Road. This Court Takeing the premisses into their Serious Consideracon Doe grannt Leave
And that John Cropper & Richard Hill doe See the Road may be Conveniently marked out ~ ~ ~

It is Comanded that the Sherife of this County Cause to Come hereTwelve good & Lawfull men to Trye the issue
betweene William Thomas plte & Richard Harris deft: which Jury were Impannelled & Sworne vizt John King
John: Evans: William Gullet: Owen Mackra: John Dorman plantr: Robert Smith: John Outen Daniell Selbe
Samuell Handy: William Walton: Danack Denis, William Keenes: Decla: read vizt
Sommersett County Ss Richard Harris of this County aforesaid was Summoned to answr:
unto William Thomas of an accon of Covenant &c ~ ~ ~
And whereupon the Said William Thomas by Josias Seaward his Attorney Complaineth That whereas y
Said William Thomas and the above named Richard Harris Did upon the 19th: day of march Anno: 1682
Did enter into Certaine articles Covenants & agreements as by a Certain Condicon bearing date as abovesd
and being here in Cort produced vizt Articlulars of agreement had made Covenanted indented & Concluded
on and by and betweene William Thomas of y County of Somerset and Province of Maryland planter
of the one part And Richard Harris of the County & Province aforesaid of the other part this 19th: day of March
1682 Wittnesseth: Impr: he the Said Harris doth Covenant and Indent To and with the said Wm: Thomas
to Lett him the Said Wm: Thomas have Three hands: to witt Thomas Barnes and John ffletcher And
A negroe Woman now in the possession of him the Said Harris which hands are to be at y ordering of
him the said William Thomas as to their work & manageing of a Crop here upon the plantacon now in the
occupacon of him the said Richard Harris with all the Cleared ground houses & necessaries thereunto belonging
for y makeing of a Cropp and Cuering & Secuering the same: To have and Possesse the said Lands houses with
their Conveniences aforementioned untill y 15th: of November next ensueing the Date hereof above written
Secondly the said Wm: Thomas doth Covenante & oblidge himselfe with y said hands to beate all the Cyder yt
Shall be beaten upon the plantacon belonging to y said Richard Harris while he y said Wm: Thomas Shall have
the said hands in his possession; ordering; alsoe he the said Wm Thomas doth oblidge himselfe or Some of the hands
Shall by his order at all times when it Shall be required Grynde and gett wood for the fire: Thirdly he the Sd
Richard Harris doth Covenant and promise yt if ye houses now upon the plantacon will not Containe y Tobacco
yt Shall be made by him y said Wm Thomas with y aforesaid Hands yt Towards the building of another house
That he the said Richard Harris Shall be at y Charge to hyre a Thatcher and pay for Cutting of Sedge and nailes
to naile the Lafthes upon the rafters he y said Wm Thomas is to be at all other Charge of building y Sd
houses wch: Shall have occasion to build as to getting of Timber fetching of Sedge home or Such Like: 4thly:
he the Sd: Richard Harris doth Covenant & oblidge himselfe to finde him the said William Thomas sufficient
diett washing and Lodging and Tooles for the said Three hands: To witt y Tooles yt they have now to worke
with for the said terme of Time above written and alsoe Dyett washing & Lodging for the said hands
wholy at his the sd Richard Harris his Cost & Chardge: 5thly: he the said Wm Thomas Doth promise &
agree that y negroe woman Shall at all time and times when it is required Shall wash or help to
wash what Clothes there Shall belong To his y said Richard Harris his family: 6thly he the Sd: Wm:
Thomas doth Covenant and agree To mend or make a fence about y orchard Sufficient to preserve it from
hoggs or horses: 7thly: he the said Wm: Thomas doth Covenant and oblidge himselfe his heires executors
& admrs firmly by these presents for y Consideracon of the aforesaid hands and premisses To pay or Cause
to be paid unto y said Richard Harris or his order y full & Just summe of Six thousand five hundred pounds
