Knowe all men by these presents that wee George Wells of Baltemore County & John Wells of Kent County
Doe assigne over unto Stephen Burle of Anne Arundell County all y time of Service of one man Servant
named Wm: Batchelor belonging unto or Brothr Robert Wells as Due by Condicon unto y said Stephen
from or Brothr Robert to Serve four yeares & whereas y Said Servant hath not Soe long time to Serve per
Indenture wee Doe assigne over alsoe y time lost by Departure from his Service of y Said Servant with
othr Damadges Suffered by y Said Servants Departure make up y said time of four yeares which time
of Departure was betweene four & five weekes & wee Doe hereby engage or Selves to avouch & main
taine y said time mortality & escapes excepted unto y sd Stephen his heirs executors or assignes -
wittness or hands & seales the 12th Janry: 1673: : / : The Severall interlinings express before

Whereas I George Wells consented with my Brother John Wells y attorney of my Brothr: John Wells to
dispose of y within named Servant to Stephen Burle with his whole time which hee had to serve by indenture
& for running away alsoe for y takeing of him up which by Law was 200lb of Tobacco hee y said William
Batchelor being asked whether hee was willing to Serve y sd time to y sd Stephen Burle hee answered that
with that promise that y sd Stephen would buy him he y sd William would willingly & truly sserve him ~
y full time of four whole yeares from y Date within mentioned which is but y reasonable time & satisfaction
hee ought to make according to y Law in yt Case provided with y other service yy was Due: ` ~ ~ ~ ~

time 27 or 28 Dayes & promised freely & voluntarily to fullfill four yeares Service unto Stephen Burle to be

by running away would not have been out untill y 13th of Aprill last past & that besides y time of running away

hereof which is four moneths & three Days which is in all 5 moneths which I acknowledge this 7th: July 1677:
