Whereas there was attached by y Sheriffe in y hands of Alexander Draper nine hundred forty five pounds

tobacco of Cornelius Verhoofe to answr unto Robt Catlin Senr in a plea of Debt & after y returne made It
was
ordered yt the same Should bee Delivered to y said Robert Catlin which was not performed The said
Alexander
appearing this Day before y Cort and Saith yt there is noe more Due to y said Cornelius Verhoofe in his
hands then three hundred pounds of Tobacco This Cort orders yt execucon bee had upon y said Three
hundred pounds of Tobacco in y hands of Alexander Draper belonging to Cornelius Verhoofe & the

Ambrose Dixon Capta: Thomas Walker Sheriffe of this County brings before y Cort: Ambrose Dixon
of this County and this ffolloweing writeing from y Honr:ble Governor was read : / : ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Whereas Complainte hath this Day beene made to mee yt Ambrose Dixon of y County of Sommrsett
planter
did in or neare about y moneth of ffebruary last past att y Tobacco house of him y said Dixon upon his plan
tacon alter y marke & Dispose of five hhds of Tobacco which was by Willm: Stevens under Sheriffe to Capta
Thomas Walker of y Sd County marked with y broad arrowe & intended to bee weighed & received of him
y said Dixon towards Defrayeing of his publick Dues & his Lopps rents And that when y said William
Stevens Did accordingly goe about to weigh y same & to tnbhhhhake an exact accompt thereof both for his
owne
Satisfaccon & for y Satisfaccon of him y Said Dixon That then y said Dixon (in Contempt of y power and
authority to him y said Stevens given & in Contempt of y lawes of y Rt: Honr:ble Lord propry: of this pro
vince Did openly & violently by force & armes & Divers threatening abusive Speeches withstand and
oppose y said undersheriffe & would not Suffer him to execute his office but Disposed of y said Tobacco
as
aforesaid If therefore the said Dixon Shall not att y next County Cort: to bee helld in y Sd: County repaire to
y
said Cort: & therefore before y Commrs: of y Same openly & in publick view of y whole Cort: prostrate
himselfe
upon his knees & acknowledge his great errour to his Sd Lopp y Lord Propry: by him Comitted agt his Sd Lopp & in
humble
manner Crave pardon & forgiveness for y same promising amendement for y Same for y future Then you
are hereby
Strictly willed & required to have y body of him y sd Dixon at y next Proall: Cort: to bee helld att St. Maries
on y
nineteenth Day of June next then & there before his Lopps. Justices of y said Cort to answr such his
Contempt
& Suffer Such Condigne punnishment for y same as his said Lopps Justices Shall thinke fitt to inflict
upon him This warrant you are to Cause to bee recorded in yor County Cort and in Case you are forced to
bring y body of y Sd Dixon to y next Proall: Cort: as aforesaid according to y tenour of this warrant That then
you
make returne hereof att y sd Cort: Given under my hand & seale y one & Thirtieth Day of May in y second
