The Deposicon of Richard Higgenbothem July y 18th: 1677: / : ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
who saith upon y 16th : this instant hee heard Capta: Thomas Jones Call mr David Browne of Manoakin Scotts
Rogue & yt hee was a rebell as also yt hee rent his shirt in severall parts & yt hee told Browne yt hee had a
better right to y house then hee for hee had gott possession of y same & further saith not : / :

Memorandum yt this Day to witt y 14th: Day of august Annoqe Domini 1677:: att a Cort: helld for Sommrsett County before
his Lopps Justices then there Came Came y within named Richard Higgenbothem & made oath upon y holy Evange
lists yt what hee Declared upon oath within written before Mr William Stevens is true & further Saith not : / : / :

The Deposicon of Angell Richardson: / :
The said Angell being present att y Dwelling house of mr: David Browne of Manoakin y 16th July last was present
when Capta: Thomas Jones & Richard Higgenbothem was fighting but how itt began I know not but afterward I saw
Wm: Leighton of Manoakin aforesaid fall alsoe violently upon y sd: Richard hee being att work as a tailor there
in y said Browne his house and y sd Browne Comeing & parting them commanding his Lopps: peace had his Shirt
violently Torne of him by y Sd: Jones in Severall peices Calling him Scotts rogue & many othr: threatning words:
2dly The said Jones & Leighton being gone returned about midnight y said night with one man more & Called out to ~
open y Doore or else hee would breake itt open y three aforesaid men I sawe in y poch & many great blowes I heard
given against y Doore & further Saith not : / : ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Memorandum yt y Day & year abovesaid att a Cort: held for Sommrsett County before his Lopps: Justices then there Came
the within named Angell Richardson & made oath upon y holy Evangelists to y abovesaid writeing yt what he hath

before his Lopps: Justices then there Came Randall Revell Senior of this County & being examined by y Cort: whom
they were that went along with Capta: Thomas Jones & William Leighton on y 16th Day of July last to mr: David
Brownes The said Randall Revell made oath upon y holy Evangelists & saith yt Capta: Jones Came over y Creeke
& Miles Grey & John Murfeild went along with him but from whence they Came & whether they went I:
know not & furthr saith not : / : ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

William ffurnis Complaineth yt on y Sixth of June last past ( with his wife) was assaulted on y road by ~
Capa: Thomas Jones & Edward Jones & was by them beaten & sorely bruised in soe much yt the sd: William
ffurniss forst to remaine in his bed for severall dayes not able to stirr or helpe himselfe much endangering
his life & hee is Continually in bodily feare to goe about any business concerning him Doubting hee should be
Surprised by y Sd Jones whome (hee beleeving) Designes his utter ruine & Doth therefore Desire to sweare
y peace against y said Thomas & Edward Jones & that they may bee bound to their good behaviour : / :
