The Deposicon of Richard Higgenbothem July y 18^th: 1677: / : ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
who saith upon y 16^th : this instant hee heard Capt^a: Thomas Jones Call m^r David Browne of Manoakin Scotts
Rogue & y^t hee was a rebell as also y^t hee rent his shirt in severall parts & y^t hee told Browne y^t hee had a
better right to y house then hee for hee had gott possession of y same & further saith not : / :

his Lopp^s Justices then there Came Came y within named Richard Higgenbothem & made oath upon y holy Evange
lists y^t what hee Declared upon oath within written before M^r William Stevens is true & further Saith not : / : / :

The Deposicon of Angell Richardson: / :
The said Angell being present att y Dwelling house of m^r: David Browne of Manoakin y 16^th July last was present
when Capt^a: Thomas Jones & Richard Higgenbothem was fighting but how itt began I know not but afterward I saw
W^m: Leighton of Manoakin aforesaid fall alsoe violently upon y s^d: Richard hee being att work as a tailor there
in y said Browne his house and y s^d Browne Comeing & parting them commanding his Lopp^s: peace had his Shirt
violently Torne of him by y S^d: Jones in Severall peices Calling him Scotts rogue & many oth^r: threatning words:
2^dly The said Jones & Leighton being gone returned about midnight y said night with one man more & Called out to ~
open y Doore or else hee would breake itt open y three aforesaid men I sawe in y poch & many great blowes I heard
given against y Doore & further Saith not : / : ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Memorandum y^t y Day & year abovesaid att a Co^rt: held for Somm^rsett County before his Lopp^s: Justices then there Came
the within named Angell Richardson & made oath upon y holy Evangelists to y abovesaid writeing y^t what he hath

Memorandum That this Day to witt y 15^th: Day of august Annoqe Domini 1677: att a Co^rt: helld for Somersett County
before his Lopp^s: Justices then there Came Randall Revell Senio^r of this County & being examined by y Co^rt: whom
they were that went along with Capt^a: Thomas Jones & William Leighton on y 16^th Day of July last to m^r: David
Brownes The said Randall Revell made oath upon y holy Evangelists & saith y^t Capt^a: Jones Came over y Creeke
& Miles Grey & John Murfeild went along with him but from whence they Came & whether they went I:
know not & furth^r saith not : / : ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

William ffurnis Complaineth y^t on y Sixth of June last past ( with his wife) was assaulted on y road by ~
Cap^a: Thomas Jones & Edward Jones & was by them beaten & sorely bruised in soe much y^t the s^d: William
ffurniss forst to remaine in his bed for severall dayes not able to stirr or helpe himselfe much endang^ering
his life & hee is Continually in bodily feare to goe about any business concerning him Doubting hee should be
Surprised by y S^d Jones whome (hee beleeving) Designes his utter ruine & Doth therefore Desire to sweare
y peace against y said Thomas & Edward Jones & that they may bee bound to their good behaviour : / :
