Rice his Landing and Soe much brandy as was taken
for Two gallons which I the said Tho: Humphries
delivered my Selfe unto John Evans of Wighcocomoco
in Maryland and soe farr I Say & further saith not
Tho: Humphries
The Deposicon of Tho: Ball aged fifty three
or thereabouts Deposeth here in Cort:
That I Tho: Ball was there in presents when mr: Randall
Revell and mr: nicholas Rice was there in presence
That I Tho: Ball did draw A bond onely for this boat
onely whereby that Benjamin Cotman and ffrancis
Roberts was to returne and did returne upon y bond
the boate againe to mr: nicholas Rice soe farr I say
& further saith not - - - - - - - Tho: Ball
The Deposicon of Benjamin Cotman aged thirty
yeares or thereabouts deposeth here in Cort: ; / ;
I Came over with ffrancis Roberts on purpose to purchase
a peece of Land which did appeare to be properly his
as doth appeare upon record and with all the boate which
I Came over in he did purchase and pay for honestly
as may appeare by evidence after this the said ffrancis
Roberts & Ben: Cotman comeing over here in theire
bussnes and when it was finished goeing out of the
river to theire habitacon in northumberland County
in virginia; nicholas Rice produceing A Letter of
Attorney which Did not exactly expresse the Length
and exact markes of the boat it was the pleasure of
mr: Randall Revell for to seize it as A rack for ye Rt: honr:ble
the Lord Proprietary whereupon the said ffrancis
