Edmund Scarburgh his time being out after his said master
Deceased went to Demand his freedome when upon it was
Denied but it not withstanding yor: petr: was intended to
goe to the Cort: to try for his freedome being the 15th: of
January in the year 1671 It notwithstanding Miles
Gray being an overseer then at the same time woulld
not Suffer your peticionr: to goe and try for his
freedome; but tooke him and Layd upon him with
A Doggwood Stick which was unlawfull for any man
to beate a Christian withall which I can make appear
by evidence and Did soe Drub yor: poore peticioner till
he brooke the Stick all to peeces and after that he tooke
your petr: and threwe him Downe, and kickt him about
the somack and the ribbs after a most violent manner
that yor: petr: was Disabled at that time that he was never
able to Doe a dayes worke Since and now finding himselfe
Destitute of helpe was forced to prosecute the Lawe agst:
him for releife wch: yor: petr: humbly Craveth yor: worplls:
to allowe him some satisfaccon for his abuse And he Shall
