Sommersett County Ss John Rhodes Junr: late of Sommersett County
Was Attached to answer unto Jacob Cheltenham in
an accon of Assault & Battery &c.
Whereupon the said Jacob Cheltenham by Thomas Jones his
Attorney Saith that he the said John Rhodes by force of Armes
as Swords Staves & knives on him the said plaintife on the
open Roade in this said County of Sommersett the twenty
day of october in the nine & thirtieth year of the Dominion
of Caecilius &c hee made assault & him the said plaintiffe
beate wounded & evill intreated that of his Life he Did
despaire & other harms to him he did to the greate Damage
of the plaintiff & Contrary to the peace & Government of
the Lord Proprietary Whereupon he saith he is Damnified
& hath Damage to the vallewe of five thousand pounds of
tobacco & thereupon hee brings his Suite &c. ~ ~ ~ ~
