39 This may Certifie whome it may Concerne that whereas John
Grissell my Servant of an Indifferent tall feature black short Curled
hare of A pale Complexion about twenty eight years old having
about that time foure years three quarters to Serve ran away from
me the Subscribed James Weedon of Pocomoke river in the County
of Somersett in the province of Maryland gent: in May in the year
of or: Lord 1669 in Company of Thomas Phillips Servant to mr:
Stevens; one James Servant to mr: Edward Wale late of the said
County & Another man who now as I am informed followes y
Imploymt: of A tinker whose name at present I Cannot remember
And whereas I am Credibly informed my Sd: Servant resides & is
imployed by Capta: Newton of Jamica of Long Island, These
therefore wittnes that I the Sd: James Weedon Doe by these pr:sents
fully impower John London of the sd: County to use all Lawfull
waise & meanes whatsoever to apprehend Secure & returne to
me the Subscribed my Sd: Servt: & I doe hereby ratiefie & Confirme
all & whatsoever Lawfull Act or acts that my Sd: attorney Shall doe
or Cause to be don in relacon hereonto requesting by these
presents all majestrates & officers of Justice to be ayding &
assisting the Sd: London herein in wittnes whereof I have
hereunto Set my hand & Seale this 15th: day of novembr 1670
Know you ffurther that the above named Edward Wale doth give
the Selfe Same power as aforesaid to John London Concerning
his Servt: James above mentioned whose surname is Graye In
Wittnes whereof the Sd: Edward Wale doth hereunto Sett his hand
& Seale theday & yeare above written ~ ~
