ect. The 110-mile-per-hour service, which ultimately is to reach 150
miles per hour, is to start the last Sunday in April.

The crossings affected are on county roads in Cecil, Harford, Balti-
more, Anne Arundel, and Prince George's counties.

The only crossings on State highways are on Maryland 193, Glen-
dale Road, in Prince George's, and Belair Avenue in Aberdeen, Har-
ford County.

Governor Agnew said he regards the new controls planned by the
State Roads Commission as only a temporary answer to the problem
and that he will continue to work, with the assistance of Maryland
Congressmen, for Federal funding of grade separations.

REMARKS TO ADVERTISING CLUB OF BALTIMORE,
HONORING ANDY GRIFFITH

February 24, 1968

Gentlemen:

Last year we honored Chuck Thompson for his great work over the
years, and what happens? The Orioles drop from first place to sixth
and the Colts get clobbered in Los Angeles. And, in the words of
Chuck's sponsor, every fan should have a crying towel he can call his
own.

So in honoring Andy Griffith this evening as the outstanding tele-
vision personality of 1967, we can only pray that we are not predicting
the demise of his wonderful program and thus contributing to the
problem of crime on the streets of Mayberry.

Some television comic said the next replacement show on TV would
be "Mission Impossible" starring Sen. Eugene McCarthy. My infor-
mation has it differently. There are three programs vying for prime
time attention: "Family Affair" starring George Wallace; "The Dating
Game" starring Justice William Douglas; and "Dialing for Dollars"
starring Wilbur Mills!

There's also a good deal of speculation about the show entitled
"Life Begins at Sixty-six" starring George Mahoney.

Well, it is my hope that the drama of Andy and Opie and Goober
and Barney and Aunt Bee goes on forever. It is not only good en-
