8 MARYLAND COURT OF APPEALS

Justices here a Certaine Information against the Pinck Ann of Maryland
John Blackmore Master, the tenor of which Information followeth in these
words.

To the Justices of Their Maties Provinciall Court for the Province of
Maryland.

Be it remembred That Edward Randolph Esqr who as well for our Sd
Soveraign Lord and Lady the King and Queen as for himself gave the Court
here to understand and be informed That whereas by a certain Act of Parlia-
ment made in the Twelfth Year of the Reign of King Charles the Second
Intituled an Act for the Encourageing and Encreasing of Shipping and Navi-
gation amongst other things it is therein Contayned Vizt)

And be it Further Enacted by the Authority afore Said that for every
Ship or Vessell which from and after the Five and Twentieth day of Decem-
ber in the Year of our Lord One thousand Six Hundred and Sixty Shall Set
Saile out of or from England, Ireland, Wales, or Towne of Berwick upon
Tweed, For any English Plantation in America Asia, or Africa Sufficient
Bond Shall be given with one Surety to the cheif Officrs of the Custom house
of Such Port or place from whence the Said Ship Shall Sett Sail to the Value
of One Thousand pounds if the Ship be of less burthen One hundred Tuns
and of the Summ of two Thousand pounds if the Ship be of greater Burthen,
that in case the Said Ship or Vessell Shall load any of the Said Commodities
at any of the Said English Plantations, that the Same Comodities Shall be
by the Said Ship brought to Some Port of England, Ireland, Wales, or to
the Port, or Towne of Berwick, upon Tweed and Shall there unload and put
on Shore the Same (the danger of the Seas only excepted) and for all Ships
[11] Coming from any other Port or place to any of the afore Said Plantations
who by this Act are permitted to Trade there, That the Gover[nr] of Such
English Plantations Shall before the Said Ship or Vessell be permitted to load
on board any of the Said Comodityes take bond in Manner and to the Vallue
afore Said for each respective Ship or Vessell that Such Ship or Vessell Shall
carry all the afore Said Goods that Shall be loaded on board in the Said Ship
to Some other of his Maties English Plantations or to England, Ireland, Wales,
or Town of Berwick upon Tweed, and that every Ship or Vessell which Shall
load or take on board any of the afore Said Goods untill Such bond be given
to the Said Governr or Certificate produced from the Officers of any Custome
house of England, Ireland, or of the Towne of Berwick that Such Bond have
been there duely given, Shall be forfeited with all her Guns Tackle Apparell
and Furniture to be imploy'd as by the Said Act is directed which Act is Still
in full force and unrepealed Notwithstanding John Blackmore Marrine[r]
Comander of the Ship Ann belonging to this Province of Marylan[d] not
regarding the Statute afore Said nor the Penalties therein contain[d] any wise
fearing but altogether Slighting and contemning the Sam[e] after the making
of the Said Statute (to wit) the Tenth day of January and divers times before
