Att which Said next Provinciall Court (to witt) att a Provll Court held
att the Town and Porte of Annapolis the 8th Day of December in the Eighth
Year of the reigne of our Sovereigne Lord King [84] William the 3o etc. Anno
Dni 1692

Came again the Said Partys by their Attorneys afd
MARYLAND ss. Thomas Tench Esqr Admr of all the goods and Chattells
of Lyonel Copy Esqr decd was Attached to Answer unto Elizabeth Blakiston
Admr of all the goods and Chattells of Nehemiah Blakiston Esqr Late Collr
and receiV of their Matys Customs in Potomock District of a Plea of Trespass
upon the Case which Said Nehemiah was and whose Admr as Such is indebted
unto their Sd Matys and unable to Satisfy the Same untill She Shall recover
from the Said Thomas Tench Admr as afa a Certein Debt Due from the Said
Lyonell to the Said Nehemiah.
Whereupon the Said Elizabeth by Philip Clark her Attorney Saith that
whereas the Said Lyonel in his life time that is to Say the Last day of August
in the Year of our Lord 1693. Stood Justly Indebted unto the Said Nehemiah
in the Summe of i93l-i4'-ioj Sterl and in the Quantity of 12000* of Tob-
bacco whereof the Said Tench Since the Death of the Said Lyonel has Satis-
fyed and paid unto the Said Nehemiah and Since the Death of the Said
Nehemiah unto the Said Elizabeth the Summe of 5g!-o3s-iod So that there
remains Still due unto the Estate of the Sa Nehemiah from the Estate of the
Said Lyonel the Sume of i341-ns-ooid and the Sd Quantity of 12000' of
Tobbacco as by a particular Acco hereunto Annexed it may Appear in Con-
sideration whereof the Said Lyonell in his life time that is to Say the day and
Year afd att St Marys City in St Marys County did Assume upon himselfe and
faithfully promise unto the Said Nehemiah that he the Said Lyonel the Said
Summe of i93'-i4B-ioid Sterl and the Said Quantity of 12000* [85] of Tob-
bacco unto the Said Nehemiah when thereunto required would well and
truly Content and pay. Yet notwithstanding the Said Lyonel in his life time
his promise and Assumption So as afd made little reguarding but fraudu-
lently intending and minding him the Sd Nehemiah craftily and Subtily to
deceive and defraud the Summ of 193-14-10^ and the Said Quantity of
12000* of Tobbacco although often required Vizt the day Year and place
aforesaid to the Sd Nehemiah hath not paid nor the Said Thomas Tench
Since the death of the Said Lyonel more thereof then the Said 59*— 3s— iod to
the Said Nehemiah in his life time nor to the Said Elizabeth Since his death
Although often required by the Said Nehemiah in his life time that is to Say
the Last day of Sep1 1693 and by the Said Elizabeth Since his death Vizt the
Last day of November following and att Severall other times hath not paid
but the Same to her to pay hath denyed and Still doth deny whereupon She
