upon it is ordered that the Said Jonathan Forward or his Council by the
Last Day of May afd file his Errors or Causes of Appeale from the Decree of
the Chancery Court aforesaid and that the Said Thomas Bordley do give in
his Answer to the afd Errors or Causes of Appeale and that the Cause Should
Come to a hearing on the Second Day of June afd Afterwds To Witt on the
thirtieth Day of May afd the Sd Jonathan Forward by his Council afd did give
in his reasons of Appeale which are as follows

Merchant. Thomas Cockey, John Moale Robert Gordon and William Rogers
of Maryland
Humbly Sheweth
That Your Petrs on or about the Eighteenth Day of May Seventeen hun-
dred and Twenty five Exhibited their Bill of Complaint into the high Court
of Chancery of this Province Against Thomas Bordley Esqr Setting forth
that there had been Severall Judgments and other proceedings illegally erro-
neously and without any Just foundation obtained and carried on at Law
in the Provincial and other Courts of this Province agt your PetrB at the Suit
of Gilbert Powlson therein named whereby your Petitioners were and are
Extreamly and unjustly Agrieved and injured. That for redress of those
Agrievances Your Petr Forward made his proper Aplication to the Lords of
the Committee for hearing Appeals from the Plantations.
That on the Said Application So as afd made the Lords of the Committee
to Whom your Petitioners prayed for relief were pleased on the Seventeenth
Day of June One Thousand Seven hundred and Twenty four to make their
Report to his Majesty in Council at the Royall palace of Kingsington. That
on the Said Report his Majesty in Council was Most gratiously pleased to
order on the fourth Day of July one Thousand Seven hundred and Twenty
four that the Sd Judgments Should be reversed and Set Aside and that Your
Petitioner Forward Should be restored to what he had Lost on Account of
those illegall proceedings and that his Majesty Was Likewise pleased to order
that the Governour of the province of Maryland and all others Whom it
might Concern were to Take Notice thereof and to govern themselves Ac-
cordingly as by the Sd Report of the Lords of the Committee and the order
of his Majesty in Council reference being thereto had may more fully and
at Large appear. That Thomas Cockey one of your Petitioners Forwards
Agents pending the Said proceedings to prevent their Immediate Seizure
of your Said Petitioners Effects was Compelled and unwillingly Oblidged
to draw a Set of Bills of Exchange on your Petitioner Forward for 6oo*b Sterl
payable to Gilbert Powlson or Order bearing date the Second Day of May
One Thousand Seven hundred and Twenty one and Mentioned to be for So
Much of your Petitioners Forwards Effects pretended to be Condemned in
your Petitioners Cockeys hands for the use of Sd Powlson. That the Said
