Domini 1696 Came the said George Plater Attorney Generall aforesaid who
for our said Lord the King that now is Prosecuteth and prays Judgment for
our said Lord the King against the said Phillip Lynes upon the obligation
aforesaid and the said Phillip Lynes in his owne proper person likewise came
and saith he cannot gain Say the Action of the Action [sic] of the Plantiff
brought as aforesaid but prayeth that Execution may be stayd for the pres-
ent that the said Phillip Lynes [256] may produce Legall Certificate or
make other good proof which being done he prays the same may discharge
the said Judgmt whereupon its Considered by the Court here that the said
George Plater who prosemtpth for our said Lord the King recover agt the
said Phillip Lynes as Well the penall Summe of One Thousand pounds Ster-
ling the debt aforesaid as also the Sume of ............ pounds of tobaccoe
costs of Suite and the Defendant in mercy With allowance of Legall Certifi-
cate or proof to be A discharge of this Judgt
Att A Provinciall Court held at the City of Annapolis in Ann Arundell
County for the Province of Maryland the Second Tuesday of Aprill being
the 14th day of the same Moneth in the 12th Yeare of the reigne of our Sover-
eigne Lady Queen Anne etc. Annoque Domini 1713.

her Majtys Writt of Scire facias against the said Defendants the tenour of

MARYLAND ss. Anne by the Grace of God of Great Brittain France and
Ireland Queen defender of the faith etc. To To [sic] the Sheriff of Charles
County Greeting Whereas at A Provinciall Court of our late Dear brother
and predecessor William the third King of England etc. held at the Towne
and Port of Annapolis for our Province of Maryland before the Honoble
Robert Smith Esqr and his Associates Justices of the same Court on the
fourth day of December in the Eighth Year of his late Majestys reigne etc.
Annoque Domini One thousand Six hundred Ninety Six our said Brother
and [257] Predecessor by consideration of the same Court did then and
there recover against the said Phillip Lynes late of Charles County otherwise
called Phillip Lynes of St Mary's County Gentleman as well the Sume of
One thousand pounds sterling A Certain debt whereof the said Phillip Lynes
is Convict as alsoe the Summe of pounds of tobaccoe costs of
Suite Execution whereof still remaines to be done and Wee being Willing
that those things which are rightly Acted in our said Court should be
