N.B. This being the first
Attempt to establish Towns, Ports and Places of Trade, within
the Province; and the Property gained under this and
the supplementary, and other subsequent
Acts to the same End (though repealed or dissented to)
being confirmed by the Act of 1715,
ch. 32, the following Abstract of it is given.
(1.) From and after the 8th
August 1685, the Towns, Ports and Places hereafter mentioned,
shall be the Ports and Places where all Ships and Vessels,
trading into this province, shall unlade,
and put on Shore, and sell, barter and traffic away,
all Goods, &c. imported into this Province.
And all Tobacco, Goods, &c. of the Growth, Production
or Manufacture of this Province,
intended to be sold here, or exported, shall be for that
Intent brought to the said ports and
Places, viz.
St. Mary's County, at
The City of St. Mary's.
Britton's Bay, at John Bailey's, or Taunt's
The Indian Town
Choptico, his Lordship's Manor.
Kent County, at
Shipping, alias Coxe's Creek.
New-Yarmouth, in Grey's-Inn Creek.
Ann-Arundel County, at The
Town, at Proctor's.
South River, on Col. Burgess his Land.
