The question then recurring upon the amendment submit-
ted by Mr. Roman,

It was rejected.
Mr. Page submitted the following amendment:
The State shall be divided into three districts. The city
of Baltimore and the counties of Baltimore, Carroll and Har-
ford, the first; the Eight counties of the Eastern Shore the
second; and St. Mary's, Charles, Calvert, Prince Georges,
Anne Arundel, Montgomery, Howard, Frederick, Washing-
ton and Allegany the third. The Governor who was elected
from the first district at the last election shall continue in
office during the term for which he was elected. The Gov-
ernor shall be taken from the second district at the first elec-
tion of Governor under this Constitution; from the third
district at the second election; and from the first district at
the third election, and in like manner afterwards from each
district in regular succession ;
The question being upon its adoption,
Mr. Carter moved a call of the House;
Which was sustained.
