Tuesday 18th. June 1793

The Council met.
Present the Governor

Mr Brice

Mr Kilty

Mr Davidson

State of Maryland

In Council June 18th. 1793

The Citizen Moissonier having produced to this Board his Commission as Vice-Consul
for the Republic of [F]rance, in this State together with an Exequator [sic] or recognition
of his said quality under the hand of the President of the United States. Ordered that the
said Recognition be published for the information and government of the people of this State.

[p. 244] George Washington, President of the United States of America—
To all whom it may concern:

The Citizen Moissonier having produced to me his Commission as Vice-Consul for the
Republic of France in the State of Maryland, I do hereby recognize him as such, and declare him
free to exercise and enjoy such functions, powers and privileges as are allowed to Vice-Consuls
of the french republic by the laws—treaties and conventions in that case made and provided:

In Testimony whereof I have caused these Letters to be made Patent
and the Seal of the United States to be hereunto affixed.
Given under my hand the fifth day of June in the Year of our Lord
one thousand seven hundred and ninety three, and of the Independence
of the United States of America the seventeenth signed
