[p. 216] Monday 25th. March 1793
The Council met.
Present as on Saturday.
In Council March 25th. 1793
James Webster by his Petition sets forth that he was recognized to appear before the
Justices of Baltimore County Court of Oyer and terminer and goal delivery in the sum of
Twenty pounds Current Money to November term last, for assaulting a certain John Manley,
at which term he the Petitioner did appear and waited at Court three days, during which time
the said Manley did not appear, that he the Petitioner was obliged to go to Virginia during
the setting of the said Court and in his absence the said Manley appeared and the Petitioner's
Recognizance was forfeited. Three of the Justices of the said Court having recommended
a release of the said forfeited Recognizance, It is hereby Ordered to be released on payment
of all Costs.

In Council March 26. 1793
The Board took into Consideration the Petition of Joseph Dawson, setting forth that he
was presented and upon Submission fined three pounds fifteen shillings by the Court of
Dorchester at it's October term 1792 for selling a quart of Cyder contrary to Law, and praying
to be relieved from the payment thereof. The Petitioner represents that he was ignorant of the
Law, that he is a cripple, and has a family who would Suffer by the exaction of the fine, and
the Justices of the said Court having recommended him as an Object of Clemency, the said
fine is hereby remitted.
