310 "Journal of the Council"

thousand seven hundred and ninety: We do therefore in Pursuance of the powers vested in Us
by the Constitution of the United States and by the aforesaid Acts of Assembly, authorise and
command you to hold an Election for a person to represent this State in the said House of
Representatives, in your said County of ........ on Monday the seventh day of January next

at the usual place of holding Elections and that after giving ten Days Notice at the least exclud-
ing the Day of Notice and the Day of Election you then and there attend, conduct regulate and
make return of the said election agreeably to the directions of the aforesaid Act of Assembly
passed November session one thousand seven hundred and ninety.

Given in Council at the City of Annapolis under the Seal of the State of Maryland this
twenty first Day of December in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and ninety
two.

In Council December 22d. 1792

It appearing to the Board by the Petition of John Carman of Queen Anns County, and by
a Certificate of the Clerk of the County aforesaid that the said Carman was fined by the County
Court of the said County in five several cases to the amount of three Dollars, and that he is now
in actual confinement for the said fines, and it also appearing to the Board that the said John
Carman is very poor, and entirely unable to pay the said fines, It is thereupon Ordered that the
said several fines be remitted on condition that all costs are paid

Evans, Michael Wallace, Richard Bond, John Miller, William Ward, Samuel Moffit, Henry
Hollingsworth, Nathan Norton, Thomas Jones and Benjamin Sluyter.
