for the said property, and withholds it from him, that John Norris his security is dead and was
so involved that little will remain for a wife and six Children after payment of his debts and
it also appearing by the Certificate of William McLaughlin, that the said Sinclair has no prop-
erty independent of his Father. The Board on consideration of his case do order and direct
that the Bond aforesaid be cancelled upon the property being released to the State, and his
paying all Costs arising on the said Bond.
Richard Cole of Baltimore County by his Petition to the Board states, that in the year
1783 he purchased of the State a lott of Land in said County part of the property of the late
Principio Company No. 8 said to contain 125 Acres, at nine pounds per Acre, that upon survey
it appears that 28 Acres thereof are taken away by an elder Tract belonging to the Petitioner
called Carters Discovery which contains the whole of the good Land in said Lott, that he has
paid one year's Interest on his [p. 99] said purchase and is now totally unable to
discharge the principal and interest, the whole of his property being inadequate thereto; he
therefore prays a relinquishment of the said purchase, and that he and his securities Doct'r
Lyde Goodwin, and Solomon Carter may be discharged from their Bond, the State taking
back the property upon such terms as may seem right and proper. And Doct'r Goodwin one of
the securities having certified that the Allegations contained in the Petition are true, that it
will be very difficult for him as a security to discharge so large a debt, and that the other
security has little or no property. And the Agent to whom it was referred having proposed
to release Mr Cole upon his surrendering the property back to the State, and giving Bond with
good security for the payment of all the interest due on the said purchase. The Board on due
consideration do order and direct that the Bond aforesaid be cancelled upon the terms aforesaid
and the payment of all Costs arising thereon.
