Francis Clements of Jno., Francis Clements of Thos., Caleb Hawkins, John Me aBoy, Alexis
Mudd, Thomas D. Merrick, Thomas Brooke, George Cato, William Downes, Joseph Turner,
William Craik, Gerard Johnson, Port Tobacco, John C. Dixon, John Crisman, William
Thomas, of Jno. and William Jones junr. to testify on the Hearing before the Governor and
Council, on Monday the 24 of this instant October, of the Complaint of Charles Mankin
Benjamin Cawood and William Brawner that the election for Sheriffs of Charles County was
not made fairly and freely agreeably to the Constitution and Form of Government.

The Council adjourned 'till tomorow morning.

Summonses issued to Basil Smith, Jeremiah Dyer, Samuel Richards, Leonard Dixon and
Samuel Pickerell to testify on the Hearing before the Governor and Council this instant, of the
Complaint of Charles Mankin, Benjamin Cawood and William Brawner that the election for
Sheriffs of Charles County was not made fairly and freely agreeably to the Constitution and
Form of Government.

Agreeably to the order of the Board of the 10th, instant. Charles Mankin on behalf of the
Petitioners against the late election in Charles County for Sheriffs, and James Simms the
Sheriff elect, attended and the Board proceeded to enquire into the Complaints set forth in the
Petition.

The Petitioners prayed for permission to amend their Petition, by specifying other objec-
tions to the said Election, which upon due consideration was allowed and the Petition was
amended so as to read as follows—

"To his Excellency the Governor and the honourable the Council of the State of Mary-
land—

The Memorial of Charles Mankin, Benjamin Cawood and William Brawner sheweth that
