Saturday 8th. October 1791

The Council met.

The Council adjourned 'till Monday Morning.

Monday 10th. October 1791

The Council met.

Present as on Saturday.

Commissions issued to the following persons.

George Robertson elected Sheriff of Somerset County.

Charles Hodson elected Sheriff of Dorchester County.

Thomas O'Bryan elected Sheriff of Queen Anns County.

Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to Edward Roberts Four pounds, six shil-
lings and three pence for going Express to Easton with a Warrant of Execution for David
Rathell.

That the said Treasurer pay to John Wilmot Nine pounds three shillings and ten pence
per Account passed by the Auditor General.

In Council October 10th. 1791

On Consideration of the Petition of Charles Mankin, Benjamin Cawood and William
Brawner Candidates for the Office of Sheriff for Charles County at an election lately held there,
setting forth several facts tending to shew that the said Election was not held in a free and fair
manner, and praying that a Commission may not be issued agreeably to the return made to the
Board, but that a Day may be appointed for the said Petitioners to bring evidence in Support
of their Allegations.

Ordered that Monday the 24th. of this instant October be and is hereby appointed for
hearing evidence on the Subject of the said Petition, That Henry Barnes and Benjamin Contee
Esquires the Judges of the said Election and James Simms the Person first on the Return made
by the said Judges be served with Copies of the said Petition and Complaint, and that the Clerk
of the Council issue Summonses for the attendance of such Persons as may be required by
either of the parties.

The Council adjourned till tomorrow morning.

Tuesday nth. October 1791

The Council met.

Present as on yesterday.
