one third of the principal balance of two hundred and twenty two pounds, four shillings and
six pence be likewise deducted and remitted.

The Council adjourned till tomorrow morning.

Tuesday 17 May 1791

The Council met.

Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to Thomas Beall of Geo. Four pounds, five
shillings and seven pence Specie agreeably to "An Act to adjust the Debts due from this State"
per Account passed by the Auditor the 16th. instant,

That the said Treasurer pay to Peter Engels Armourer at Frederick town Two hundred
and seventy two pounds, seventeen shillings and eleven pence Curr't. Money due him per
Acc't. passed by Aud'r. Gen'l.

That the said Treasurer pay to Jacob Bayer Jr. four pounds fourteen shillings and eleven
pence due him per Account passed by the Aud'r. Gen'l. [p. 299]

Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to David Bradford Three pounds, six
shillings and eight pence due him for 24 days Salary as Clerk of the Court of Appeals in the
year 1783 per Account passed by the Auditor General.

Agreeably to a Resolve of the General Assembly for completing the records of the
General Court Office the Board have agreed to allow John Gwynn Esqr. Clerk of the said
Court at the rate of seven pounds of Tobacco per side for transcribing and recording in good
Books to be procured at his own expence such proceedings of the said Court as by his
Representation made on the 21st. March last, he states to require it—And that for other
services under the said Resolution the Board will make adequate compensation after they are
performed.

The Council adjourned 'till tomorrow morning.

Wednesday 18th. May 1791

The Council met.

Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to Benjamin Rumsey Esqr. Fifty pounds
for a quarter's Salary as one of the judges of the Court of Appeals due the 1st. instant.

The Hon'ble. John Davidson Esqr. attended.

Henry Townsend formerly a Subject of the King of Great Britain appeared before the
Board and voluntarily made repeated and subscribed a Declaration of his belief in the Christian
Relegion, and also took repeated and subscribed the Oath prescribed by the "Act for Natural-
ization" wherefore he is now become a Subject of this State.
