after the rate of two and a half per Cent on the Amount of all Sums of Money paid or secured
to be paid to the State on Account of such Sales.

The Petition of John Cockey Robert Burley Boone of Baltimore County praying the
remission of a fine of ten pounds current Money and two thousand four hundred and thirty six
pounds of Tobacco imposed on him by the Court of Oyer and Terminer of said County at
August term last for assaulting Joseph Strong, being read and Considered the same is rejected
[p. 287.]

Agreeably to a Resolution of the General Assembly William Campbell is appointed by the
Board to receive in behalf of the State a surrender and delivery of the one eighth part of the
Nottingham Works heretofore sold to John Dorsey of Baltimore County.

Agreeably to a Resolution of the General Assembly the Board have appointed William
Campbell to sell and convey the right of the State to One hundred acres of Land at Fort
Frederick in Washington County for specie payable in three equal annual payments for which
the Board agree to allow him a Commission of two and a half per Cent on the sum of Money
paid or secured to be paid for the same.

Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to John Gwinn Esqr. Clerk of the General
Court of the western shore Fifty pounds to be expended in procuring Books for the purpose of
transcribing such of the Records &ca. agreeably to a resolution of the last session of Assembly,
and to be Accounted for.

In Council April i. 1791

Barney Carey of Baltimore County by his Petition to the Board sets forth that he has been
presented for selling liquors without licence, and fined for the same, that that he has five young
helpless Children, and is and has been for a long time so sickly and infirm that he is unable to
labour for their support, that he is very poor, and it would greatly distress him should he be
compelled to pay the said fine. He therefore prays a remission, And four of the Justices of the
Court of Oyer and Terminer and Goal delivery of Baltimore County aforesaid having recom-
mended the said Barney Carey to the Clemency of Government, The Board taking the same into
consideration do order and direct that the said fine be remitted on his paying the Costs arising
thereon.

John Bull of Baltimore County by his Petition accompanied with transcripts of the record
of the Court of Oyer and terminer of said County; sets forth that being by trade a blacksmith,
and having by accident injured one of his arms so as to be unfit for his laborious calling, he fell
into difficulties which in the end compelled him to solicit from the Court of the said County
the benefit of the Act for relief of Insolvent debtors, that some time before his affairs came to
this crisis he had taken licence to keep tavern, which licence expired during his Confinement; and
that upon his enlargement by the means before mentioned, being unable to renew it, and having
